Let the Pictures Talk

Most of the time I’ve found that it’s easier to tell stories through pictures, because words are not powerful enough to describe what I have seen with these eyes.

Eyes, with no doubt, are the best ‘camera’ given by Allah to capture our surroundings. No camera in this earth can represent the real beauty and uniqueness of things we witness. Somehow, I feel so grateful that the experts have found sophisticated technology so I can also share what I saw through the camera lens. And also the camera phone lens, for sure 😁

  • The wooden Orang Utan

Location: Khatulistiwa Park, Siantan, Pontianak

Equator monument which has a new branding called “Khatulistiwa Park” is currently under renovation. Many woods were becoming waste during the renovation process. The remnant of woods are used to build a replica of Orang Utan to decorate Khatulistiwa Park.

The wood remnants are usually being wasted and end in a garbage, or then being used as the firewood of which the smoke will produce CO2 that can pollute the environment.

Area Tugu Khatulistiwa yang kini dibranding dengan nama “Khatulistiwa Park” sedang dalam tahap pembangunan dan renovasi. Proses renovasi ini menyisakan banyak potongan kayu. Sisa potongan kayu tersebut dimanfaatkan untuk membuat replika orang utan yang menghiasi area Khatulistiwa Park.

Sisa potongan kayu biasanya hanya dianggap sebagai limbah tak bermanfaat dan dibuang begitu saja, kemudian berujung menjadi kayu bakar dan asapnya akan menghasilkan CO2 yang dapat mencemari lingkungan.

  • “Pontianak” city branding logo.

“Pontianak” logo which you can find at Alun Kapuas Park is the work of Fajiyusni, a man from Mensere Village, Tebas subdistrict, Sambas Regency. The logo designed by Fajiyusni won the Pontianak “City Branding Competition held by Pontianak Digital Stream.

According to Fajiyusni, the logo was designed with the value of Pontianak culture and history. The flexibility of the design concept represent the adaptability of the citizen social culture to the current trend.

Tulisan “Pontianak” di Taman Alun Kapuas ini merupakan hasil karya Fajiyusni, pemuda asal Desa Mensere, Kecamatan Tebas, Kabupaten Sambas. Logo rancangan Fajiyusni tersebut memenangkan sayembara logo Pontianak “City Branding” yang digelar oleh Pontianak Digital Stream.

Menurutnya, desain itu dibuat dengan memperhatikan kultur dan sejarah Kota Pontianak, konsep desain yang luwes memaknai kultur sosial masyarakat yang mudah menerima dan beradaptasi dengan perkembangan zaman.

The longest river in Indonesia is located in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. At 1,143 kilometers in length, it is one of the world’s longest island rivers.

Sungai terpanjang di Indonesia terletak di Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat. Dengan panjang 1.143 km, menjadikannya sebagai salah satu pulau dengan sungai terpanjang di dunia.

  • Garbage bin.

Pontianak Cleaning and Landscaping Department provides organic inorganic recycle garbage bin to make Alun Kapuas Park always clean.

The organic waste is usually used to ease the making of compost fertilizer, it consists of vegetable waste, leaves, and many other.

Inorganic waste is waste consisting of materials that are difficult biodegradable so that destruction takes a very long time.

Dinas Kebersihan dan Pertamanan Kota Pontianak menyediakan tempat sampah pilah agar kebersihan di Taman Alun Kapuas senantiasa terjaga.

Sampah organik biasanya digunakan untuk mempermudah pembuatan pupuk kompos, isinya bisa berupa sampah sayuran, daun dan sebagainya.

Sampah non organik terdiri dari bahan yang sulit atau memerlukan waktu yang lama untuk terurai.
